The 30" pull bars that were supplied for the cabinet drawers are too long and the screw positions are in line with the sides of the drawers. So, until we receive the correct ones, we won't be able to load up the drawers with stuff from our old kitchen cabinets.
Meanwhile, the wall patch for the capped-off air vent is drying nicely. I'll sand and apply at least one more coat of spackling to get a nice appearance for the wall, which will be obscured by the refrigerator and never seen! But, hey, I'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it was done right.
So, for now, it's back to screwing in kitchen floor boards and installing the remaining two sister boards for the hallway joists. Then we can start leveling the hallway and powder room floor with thinset to prepare for the tiling operation.
We have decided to go with wood flooring in the kitchen, using the same style of Bruce flooring that we installed years ago in the family room, dining room and living room. This is going to make life much simpler, since the tile layout will now be limited to the hallway and powder room. And, we have been assured that standing for long periods of time on wood is much more comfortable than on tile.
