Here's Looking at You, Kid!

Today we cleaned out the powder room to prepare for painting the ceiling and walls.  Amanda taped the mirror in case we broke it when prying it loose from the wall.  With the help of a large putty knife, rubber mallet and her cake spatula, we finally reached the deep recesses of liquid nails behind the mirror to coax it free from the wall in one piece.  We have a new, larger mirror that will replace the old one, which we have no idea where we might use it.  I like this self-portrait.

We disconnected the water supply lines and drain pipe from the sink and used the same tools to unglue the vanity from the wall.  It's sitting on the deck until we finish painting the room, and will be temporarily re-installed for the convenience of having a functional sink.

By the end of the day (nearing midnight) Amanda had applied the first coat of Seafoam Spray Green paint to the walls (looks like mint, and it was hard for us not to give it a taste test).  A second coat will finish the job tomorrow, so we can re-install the toilet tank, which had to be removed for the wall painting.

Amanda inserted some Styrofoam sheets inside the refrigerator to stabilize the stuff inside and we used our hand truck and a lot of huffing and puffing to relocate the refrigerator to our temporary kitchen space in the dining room. The next time the fridge will be moved is when we have someone deliver a replacement and haul it away!

We also pulled the cabinets off of the East wall of the kitchen so we can patch the spot where our wall phone had been hanging and do the prep work for painting.  Here's how it looks after today's work:

  1. With a name like Seafoam Spray Green, I'm surprised Amanda didn't try to swim in it while also getting that almost taste test.

  2. To be fair...I did end up with miniature green polka dots all over my arms....so thats kind of like swimming in it, right?
